:: Tools for Ladies ::

we were in summit usj for a karaoke session last sunday and went into Point B which is having its 3rd anniversary sale. Point B is the only department store in the mall and i'm not sure whether they have any other stores around malaysia cuz i've only seen it summit. as i was wandering around, my eyes got attracted to sets of pink & black coloured packaging boxes with metal things on a rounded island shelf. went closer to have a look and amazingly, they were tools made for women in PINK & BLACK theme!

i got excited cuz pink is obviously my colour and the items looked heavenly chic. there were different tools like hammer, measuring tape, screwdriver, etc and also gardening tools. the items were sold separately in pretty pink & black coloured boxes and they were also sold together in a set with metal pink toolbox. the hammer got my attention the most cuz it came with a faux diamond ring around the metal. it was definitely love at first sight... hehehe.

as i looked around, i've also found a set of apron and gloves in pink with black linings. since i've been frequently involved in kitchen accident with hot cooking oil popped out from the frying pan, i've thought of searching for a cute pink apron that can accompany me during cooking. so i said to myself, "this is it". however, the only thing that stopped me from owning any of the items was the price. yeah, they were a bit pricey. the price for the set of apron and gloves was RM129 so there goes my wish... :-(

i've copied the company web add and went to take a look. they're called Hello Dolly - a new company based in New Zealand. eventually Hello Dolly is a tribute to all women especially single mothers. besides DIY and gardening tools they also have bedroom products like blindfolds, chemise and others. here are how the tool box set and gardening sets look like:

aren't they cute???

the apron that should be my kitchen companion

this adorable pouch set is also available

well, if you like to own such items or buy them for gifts (christmas is just around the corner anyway) and money is never an issue... then head up to summit usj to take a look (*wink).

:: The Best Burger Stall in Seremban ::

if u happened to be in Seremban and craving for a snack be it in morning, noon, evening or late at nite, you should try Ijan Burger which is selling scrumptious burgers in the town.

Ijan Burger started with a small stall selling benjos, hotdogs and burgers opposite shop lots in Taman Paroi Jaya, Seremban in the early millennium (couldn't remember the exact year). After several years, the stall has started selling drinks and offered eat-in where customers could enjoy their foods and drinks under shades of trees. the stall gradually became a hit among teenagers and those who are living around the area. i've noticed that peak time were around 4 - 7 pm and 8 pm and above where customers would place big orders like 8 to 10 burgers (and even more) for per order! i was totally surprised listening to such numbers actually although through my experience, i've done something out of ordinary too when i bought a burger each for my mom, sis and myself and later return to the stall to buy the same burgers for each of us for the second round... after finish eating them in the first round.

around 3 years back the stall has expanded their biz by selling roti john too and the crowd never reduced. today, the stall has moved to a better place in the corner lot of the shop houses with a new mamak restaurant named Syed Maju. believed it or not, Ijan Burger is operating for 24-hours to supply their customers crave during breakfast till supper. it's obviously the first burger stall that operates for one whole day so far!

from my analysis as a customer, what makes Ijan Burger special are:
  1. the patties are cooked till well done so they're crispy
  2. generous amount of veges, mayo & sauce
  3. they never fail to maintain the same quality and taste
  4. they can fulfill your custom needs without any hesitation even if you require extra mayo or sauce
  5. you can't never eat a burger without a drip of sauce cuz they're hefty!
if u manage to visit the store, just order whatever you like from a normal burger to triple layer special burger with cheese and they're also selling fish burger if not mistaken. among my favourites are hotdog special, beef burger special with cheese and the latest one, the oblong burger which is oval-shaped.

my hubby and i went there for a tea last sunday and i managed to take a quick photo of the shop. the stall is the one with green roof, but you can sit at syed maju area to eat-in.

last but not least is the address of the stall itself:
Ijan Burger, Jalan Nuri, Taman Paroi Jaya, 70400 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

just type Taman Paroi Jaya in Google Map and zoom till you see the road names and share your experience here if you've tried it.

:: A Guide to Further Study ::

i'm sure there are some people out there who intend to further their studies as part-timers but still indecisive whether to proceed or not. so, i wanna try to help you and come up with this simple guide. what you have to do is answer these 3 simple questions:
  1. Are you interested in the program / subject offered?
    • YES - A BIT - NO

  2. Do you have extra free time during or after office hour?
    • YES - SOME - NO

  3. Are you willing to sacrifice your free time (after office / weekends) for the sake of the study?
    • YES - MAYBE - NO
if you answered YES to all of the above, you're all set to go. it means you have the passion, you have time for classes and assignments and you're also willing to sacrifice for study. no need to wait, fill-up the application form, submit it and GO!

if you answered NO to all of the above, it clearly means you're still not ready to further your study. nothing to rush though... perhaps later? but then if you're heart is still itching, maybe you could rethink and reconsider. search for programs that interest you or can benefit you in future and do time management planning to give rooms at least for classes.

if you answered A BIT / NO for question 1 but yes to the next two questions, you can still proceed with the program. it may not be your favorite area but if the program is beneficial for your working environment and future... then why not. learning environment for Master Degree is not similar to Bachelor Degree cuz you need and can always relate it with your work experience. or else, try to search around for subject that interest and still can benefit you in the future.

if you answered SOME for question 2 but yes to the two other questions, then not to worry. once you're attached to it, you will try to squeeze your schedule here and there. if you answered NO because you're too busy at work and you have to stay back everyday, maybe you could opt for programs that offer weekend classes.

if you answered MAYBE for question 3 and yes to the two other questions, you're actually ready to further your study. based on my experience, willingness to sacrifice is the most important element for someone to further study because it's all in you. even if you said yes to the first two questions and said NO to this one, you still have to reconsider. it needs to be understood that once you have started, the journey may not be easy and honestly, sometimes it's pretty tiring.

this is only a simple guide which is based on my personal experience. whatever it is, the decision is still in your hand :-)

:: My Vows ::

the final exam will be held next friday. it's called comprehensive exam, which covers all 7 core subject learned through out 2 years study. it also determines whether i'm qualified to wear the graduation robe during the next convocation. i'm not looking forward for the exam but further beyond it. yes, after it all ends i'm gonna get my own sweet time again. no more long essays, no more research, no classes to attend... i'm gonna be a free lady. woohoo~!

to pay back those free time lost within these 2 years, i vow to:
  1. be an active blogger.
  2. revamp my so called walk-in closet (which is actually a room dedicated to my belongings)
  3. reconnect with klcc & pavillion (haven't been there for ages)
  4. spend most of the time at home with him and be the best wifey.
that's all for now and Happy Halloween~!

:: Masak Lemak Cili Api ::

i'm a proud negeri9 chic. although i won't recommend people to come visit the state cuz there's nothing much interesting except the PD beach... i have to admit that seremban is one best place to live. well, this entry is not to promote the state but what i would like to share is our trademark dish: masak lemak cili api.

people usually relate me to the dish once they got to know where i came from. not so many people know that the dish is actually one of the easiest to cook. when you need a gravy dish, this is one dish you can consider cuz it can goes with any ingredients.

for an original negeri9 style masak lemak cili api, all you need are:

1. main ingredients (meat, chicken, fish, prawn... jez name it)
2. turmeric (not the powder one please)
3. chilli padi
4. coconut milk
5. salt

steps:
1. prepare the main ingredients
2. crush turmeric fruit and chili padi with mortar and pestle until they are well-mixed
3. put the main ingredients into a saucepan with the crushed turmeric & chili
4. pour coconut milk into the saucepan - *need to add some water if u're using boxed coco milk
5. put them to boil, stir occasionally
6. put in some salt
7. it's done when the ingredients are all cooked (approximately after 20mins)

see... it's so easy isn't it? i don't fix any amount for the ingredients cuz u can adjust them accordingly. one main point u need to remember to get a good masak lemak cili api is to ensure the gravy has enough turmeric and coconut milk. the colour should be dark yellow. if its too milky it means not enough turmeric, or if it's too thin it means not enough coconut milk. usually cooking for 4 people will require not less than 2 thumb size turmeric fruit and 1 coconut milk / not less than half box of boxed coco milk.

now i would like to suggest some famous combination of the main ingredients for u to try:

1. smoked beef (daging salai) + belimbing buluh, bacang or mempelam muda - *the best combination everrrr
2. chicken / beef + potato - *with this one it would be a lot tastier if you also put half crushed lemongrass
3. prawn / salted fish (kurau or sepat) + pineapple or nangka muda
4. tenggiri + tempe

u can still cook it with only one main ingredient. other than chicken, beef, or fish try crabs, duck eggs, canned sardines, mushrooms and what ever u wish to explore.

above is a pic of nangka muda masak lemak cili api that i cooked last tuesday. i only cooked it with anchovies... simple yet tasty.
tips: to cook nangka muda, u have to boil it first and toss the water away to remove the rubber. then, cook the gravy and later put in the nangka.

happy trying~! (or in N9 dialect - slamat moncubo~!)
